In 2022, I began my internship with AWFC and was mentored by Louise Potash. From the beginning of my journey, I was given great support and opportunities to express my concern for environmental issues. One opportunity that was incredible to experience was volunteering at the “Earth 2050” event in Mill Valley, CA. Here I got to meet other people working with AWFC and other great organizations to help speak on environmental issues in different ways. This experience really showed me the importance of working together to help an issue so important to every person. Later on, I was able to use my internship in a way to create a social media account called “Pacific Perspective.” From Louise’s support, my friend and I were able to create a platform to speak on the ways in which fashion and environmental issues work together, highlighting sustainable brands in creative ways. I was able to connect with other students from the internship and learn new ways to help boost my content. Overall, the experience with AWFC has been uplifting and a great way for me to gain new social skills and knowledge valuable for the future. I think anyone who gets the chance to work with AWFC will be saying the same!
