The Nature of Cities
United Nations Pavilion, Shanghai Expo, China, July, 2010

UNEP asked Art Works for Change to produce an art installation for the UN Pavilion at the 2010 Shanghai Expo. Sixteen video artists, architects and animators created short videos addressing the theme of urban biodiversity.

The renowned Zoetrope Aubry Productions provided the design and technical editing for the project. The result will be a visually compelling and entertaining exhibition, combined with effective storytelling, that informs and inspires viewers to respect nature and her ecosystems. The UN anticipates that the installation be seen by 40,000 visitors a day.

Off the Beaten Path: Violence, Women and Art
An International Contemporary Art Exhibition

Thirty-two contemporary artists from 25 countries address violence against women and girls globally and their basic human rights to a safe and secure life.  The beauty of this project is that it combines the highest integrity of art with important social messaging and storytelling to help create awareness, inspiration, and address systems for positive social change and action.

The exhibition, curated by Randy Jayne Rosenberg, will open June, 20, 2009 at the Stenersen Museum in Oslo, Norway and close on August 9, before traveling to UNESCO in Paris.

Millions of Pieces:
Only One Puzzle

World Environment Day,
Kigali, Rwanda, June, 2010

At the invitation of the United Nations Environment Programme, Art Works for Change participated in World Environment Day 2010, hosted in Kigali, Rwanda. This year's theme, "Many Species. One Planet. One Future.", underscores the significance of biodiversity and the urgent need for conservation action.

Art Works for Change sent the Venezuelan artist, Antonio Briceno, to Rwanda to photograph its many environmental challenges, from overcoming poverty to developing sustainable energy resources to solving land degradation. The resulting exhibition addresses the importance of our diverse species and ecosystems, and how they contribute to human well-being through their impact upon medicine, climate, food production, energy, design, and culture.
