Only One Puzzle
World Environment Day,
Kigali, Rwanda, June, 2010
At the invitation of the United Nations Environment Programme, Art Works For Change will participate in World Environment Day 2010, hosted in Kigali, Rwanda. This year's theme, Many Species. One Planet. One Future., is to underscore the significance of biodiversity and the urgent need for conservation action.
Art Works for Change has sent the Venezuelan artist, Antonio Briceno, to Rwanda to photograph its many environmental challenges, from overcoming poverty to developing sustainable energy resources to solving land degradation. The exhibition titled, Millions of Pieces: Only One Puzzle, addresses the importance of our diverse species and ecosystems, and how they contribute to human well-being through their impact upon medicine, climate, food production, energy, design, and culture.

Off the Beaten Path: Violence, Women and Art
An International Contemporary Art Exhibition
Thirty-two contemporary artists from 25 countries address violence against women and girls globally and their basic human rights to a safe and secure life. The beauty of this project is that it combines the highest integrity of art with important social messaging and storytelling to help create awareness, inspiration, and address systems for positive social change and action.
The exhibition, curated by Randy Jayne Rosenberg, will open June, 20, 2009 at the Stenersen Museum in Oslo, Norway and close on August 9, before traveling to UNESCO in Paris. |

The Nature of Cities
United Nations Pavilion, Shanghai Expo, China, July, 2010
UNEP has asked Art Works For Change to produce an art installation for the UN Pavilion at the upcoming Shanghai Expo. Up to 20 video artists, architects and animators will create short videos addressing the theme of urban biodiversity.
The renowned Zoetrope Aubry Productions is providing the design and technical editing for the project. The result will be a visually compelling and entertaining exhibition, combined with effective storytelling, that informs and inspires viewers to respect nature and her ecosystems. The UN anticipates that the installation be seen by 40,000 visitors a day. |
